Candice Alexander Receives Citizen of The Humanities Award from Mayor Nic Hunter

On November 21, 2019 Candice Alexander received The Citizen of The Humanities Mayor's Arts Award.

This award is for someone in the community who makes it their mission to highlight the rich culture of Southwest Louisiana.

Mayor Nic Hunter explained Candice as a gift to The Lake Area. After graduating from McNeese State University she traveled the United States before returning to Lake Charles. Alexander shot to fame after creating her Fleur De Lis Worlds Within Series.

Since then, she has donated over $200,000.00 in art to local charities and community fundraisers. She has also directed The Tree of Life Community Project along with smaller projects in the area. Her many bodies of work all exemplify her love for Louisiana.

As one of Louisiana's most collected artists, Alexander lives in the creative state of mind and works diligently to create timeless work.
